Hello Geeks, Nerds, & Everyone else!
As you may or may not know, on Wednesday Apple unveiled the iPhone 5. Some of you may not care, others of you are thinking "But I just got the 4S!" To those of you just bought the 4S, I offer my condolences, but technology does grow at an exponential rate. But back to business. I'm going to give you the low down on the iPhone 5.
For starters lets take a look at its visual appearance:
The new iPhone is still in the two standard white and black colors. But this generation is proudly 18% thinner and 20% lighter. Apple didn't just cut from its latest model, but they added more. This generation is boasting a 4 inch Retina Display. For those of you that speak computer it's a 1136x640 screen at 326 pixels per square inch. Also a switch from the 4S is an Aluminum body unlike the glass front and back of its predecessor. This means that the screen won't shatter as easily when dropped, something we're all thankful for.
But of course this phone isn't just looks. Its got some nifty features too. The biggest upgrade on the iPhone 5 is the upgrade from 3G wireless data (Internet off a cellular network) to 4G LTE. 4G LTE is next generation of wireless data, meaning its faster. Way faster. Also included with the iPhone is an updated built in iSight camera. Now you can take better photos in low light, take a 240 degree panoramic photo, and take the photo up to 40% faster. The built in camera also will take 1080p HD video at 30 fps. The camera can also help stabilize the footage to smooth out videos and therefor making your films seem more professional.
The iPhone 5 will ship with iOS 6, Apples latest operating system. In iOS 6 is every ones favorite personal assistant. If you haven't heard of her you need to check her out. Her latest capabilities are finding local movie showings, make dinner reservation, and update you of the current score of your favorite sports team. (Which hopefully are the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.) Powering iOS 6 will be Apples A6 processing chip which runs twice as fast the A5 chip and prolong your battery life.
Some other features worth noting are updated microphones, speakers, earphones, AirPrint (wireless printing through wifi), the Maps application which can give you turn by turn directions, and new connector port. But don't worry Apple is making an adapter so you can still use your old iPod/iPhone cables.
If you use a Mac these features apply to you: The iPhone 5 will incorporate iCloud allowing you to sync it with anything your Apple Account is linked to. Also included is AirPlay which enables you to stream video from your iPhone, through your Apple TV, and onto your HD TV.
You can pre-order yours starting Sept 14th, or pick it up from the Apple Store Sept. 21st at 8:00AM.
The iPhone is available on AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. Base model starting at $200.

Printer Disassembly
Salamu! (Greetings!),
If you're like me, you wonder what the inside of something looks like. So this week a printer broke that was too outdated to repair. So the IT Department disassembled it in our spare time. And behold! The internals of a HP LaserJet 3005.
